Lean Manufacturing and Operations Expert

The last six years Paul has worked independently in the USA, Romania and Armenia. During this time, he has developed lean customer order and manufacturing flow for a jewelry manufacturer in Armenia, launched Lean Six Sigma Programs with ten Romanian Companies from a variety of industries, including high tech, electrical products, engineering and construction, technical, and financial services, and fast moving consumer goods, and assisted a high tech company with concurrent programs for the integration of two manufacturing plants and the implementation of lean manufacturing.

Prior to 2002 Paul Linthorst spent 26 years as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (and predecessor Coopers & Lybrand) and three years with Lambda Electronics, a subsidiary of Veeco Instruments as an operations analyst, master scheduler and plant manager. During that time, he worked in the USA for sixteen years, Japan for six, Korea for five, the Netherlands for two. He also worked for shorter periods in Mexico, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

During his carreer, Paul has had management responsibility for one plant, two consulting companies (Korea and Japan), one outsourcing services company (Japan) and several consulting practice units (USA) including Just In Time, Quality Management, and Distribution in the New York region. In addition, he has been involved in four start ups; one electrical products plant (in Mexico), two consulting practices (the Netherlands and Korea) and one Business Process Outsourcing Company (Japan).

Paul's areas of expertise include Lean Manufacturing, Quality Management, MRP I & II, Distribution, Purchasing, and Construction Management.

An example list of Mr. Linthorst's private sector clients includes: BP, Shell, Sun Oil, Philips (four divisions), Samsung Electronics (five divisions), GE (two divisions), AT&T (three divisions), Korea Telecom, LG, Norton, Sandoz, Roche, J&J, Kimberly Clark, Chase Manhattan Bank, LVMH, GPU, and AP&L. Government or non-profit organization clients include: New York Power Authority, Newark Housing Authority, Columbia University, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the US Embassy in Korea.

Paul has been a board member at Samil Coopers & Lybrand Consulting in Korea, Chuo Coopers & Lybrand Consulting in Japan, Alpha Outsourcing in Japan and FATE USA in the USA.

Paul Linthorst received an MS from Delft University of Technology in Applied Physics and an MBA in Operations Management from the Columbia University Business School in New York. He is fluent in English and Dutch and has a working knowledge of French and German. He is a member of AAOM (formerly APICS), ASQ and AME.
