Dr. Tanaka has over 20 years of consulting and management experience in the U.S. and Japan. His special focus is high tech where he has served in Corporate Development at Hewlett-Packard and as the CEO of DialPad Japan, an internet telephony start up. As a consultant at McKinsey Japan and BearingPoint in New York, Toshi has advised clients on business strategy and process integration issues across multiple industries.

Entrepreneurial Consultant: Dr. Tanaka has served in both executive and consulting positions throughout his career, and is a leading practitioner of the type of pragmatic consulting solutions for which BBA is known. For instance, he developed a comprehensive Japan entry strategy for a leading pioneer of internet telephony company, DialPad, and then used his strategy as a blueprint for launching DialPad's Japanese subsidiary as CEO.

Global New Markets Strategy: Toshi often conducts international investigations for global clients desiring to develop exportable products and establish distribution channels for tapping Asian markets. For instance, he captured Japanese user requirements and conducted a Japanese competitor evaluation for a U.S. cell phone device manufacturer to develop a global cell phone platform for launching in Japan. Dr. Tanaka also led efforts to enhance distribution efficiency at the Japanese subsidiary of one of the largest German pharmaceutical companies.

Global Technology Commercialization Programs: Much of Japan's global expansion has been in industries related to high tech and Tanaka's work has focused on this area. For Hewlett-Packard, Toshi managed a multifaceted technology relationship in enterprise storage with a major Japanese electronics company. He helped the management team of a Japanese 3D audio technology firm grow their firm from seed to mezzanine, and developed Japanese distribution channels for promoting and delivering leading edge CAE simulation tools to major Japanese companies, such as Toyota.

The industries in which Dr. Tanaka has specific experience include semiconductors, computers, CAE software, Internet services, telecommunications, audio, pharmaceuticals, and financial transaction services.

Toshi holds a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University. He specialized in Materials Science. His undergraduate degree was awarded from Kyoto University in Japan.
